Some love stories are written in the most unexpected ways. For Phimchanika & Marcel, it all began with messages exchanged across continents, slowly turning into a beautiful connection that brought two different worlds together.
Marcel, a chemical engineer from Austria, and Phimchanika, a Thai bride who once worked in the hospitality industry, found each other through words before distance became just another part of their story. Eventually, Phimchanika made the life-changing decision to move to Austria, where she began a new chapter working in the culinary world.
Their wedding at Maison de Mamie was a celebration of not only their love, but also the journey, passions and little details that make them who they are.
Set in a palette of elegant white, soft green and warm cream, their traditional Thai wedding was designed with a timeless, classic beauty. Yet, beyond the flowers and decorations, it was the thoughtful personal touches that made this celebration truly special.
A Wedding Filled with Personal Stories
At Maison de Mamie, we believe that the most beautiful weddings are those that tell a story. Every little detail should mean something, reflect the couple’s personalities and bring back memories of the journey that led them to this special day.
For Phimchanika & Marcel, we created a collection of bespoke details inspired by their long-distance love, their professions and the things they cherish.
A world map display, featuring the flags of Thailand and Austria, illustrated their journey across borders, with little messages and emails symbolising the conversations that brought them together.
Their personalised name signage was designed in the form of laboratory test tubes, a subtle tribute to Marcel’s world of chemistry. Even the pen holder at the guest registration table carried elements inspired by travel and chemical science.
One of our favourite details was the message printed on their personalised glasses:
“Chemistry is like cooking.”
A simple yet meaningful phrase connecting two different passions — Marcel’s chemistry and Phimchanika’s culinary artistry. A beautiful reminder that love, much like chemistry and cooking, is about bringing the right elements together to create something extraordinary.
Their handmade vow cards were also thoughtfully designed with chemical formulas, reflecting Marcel’s professional world and adding a personal touch to their promises.
The little details continued throughout the celebration: a bridal bouquet ribbon printed with their names and wedding date, and a vintage lace-inspired embroidery hoop featuring the couple’s names — delicate keepsakes created especially for them.
The Beauty of the Little Things
One of the most touching moments for us was seeing Marcel’s mother become overwhelmed with emotion. She was moved to tears by the thought and care behind all the little details we had prepared.
It reminded us once again that sometimes, the smallest things can carry the deepest meaning.
These details may seem simple, but each one was created with love, intention and an understanding of the couple’s story. They are not simply decorations; they are little pieces of their journey, transformed into memories they can keep forever.
